A Total Of 701,737 pupils equivalent to 92.27 per cent have been selected to join form one in January 2020
- 58,699 who passed the Primary School Leaving Examinations in 2019 have not been selected to join Form One in 2020 due to lack of classrooms. The affected pupils are from 13 regions with Kigoma having 12,092 pupils who have not been selected and will be required to wait until the classrooms are constructed. Speaking in Dodoma the minister also instructed the respective regions with the affected pupils to make sure that the classrooms have been constructed by the end of February 2020.

A total of 733,103 candidates passed 2018 primary school leaving exams, of whom 599,103 (81.76 per cent) won first selection enrollment to secondary education in public schools in January 2019.
The Regions that managed full allocations of slots to form ones are Dar es Salaam, Geita, Kilimanjaro, Mtwara, Morogoro, Mwanza, Ruvuma, Singida, and Songwe.

Online form one joining instructions 2020/2021
Speaking to reporters in Dar es Salaam on December 13th 2019, the Minister of State in the President’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government), Selemani Jafo, said 133,747 candidates who missed slots in the first selections will be considered for the second selection in 2019.
