KCSE Results 2016 - Shocking drop as only 141 students score "A".
Only 141 students scored straight As in this year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), a shocking drop from 2,636 candidates who attained the same grade last year; Dr. Fred Matiang'i has announced today Thursday 29th December 2016.
Releasing the results at Shimo la Tewa High School in Mombasa on Thursday, Education Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i had even more shocking news; that only 88,928 candidates attained C+ and above in the 2016 examination.
This number compares with 169,492 candidates who managed the grades of C-plus and above in 2015.
This is a huge drop from previous year's results which the Cabinet Secretary termed has not reflected the true picture of the education system. 'Some schools last year scored more than hundred As. this year they have only 2!" he said. in the KCSE result of 2016. students with A minus were 4645 and 10975 got B+. Last year. 2636 students got straight As and over 3000 in 2014.
No single case of cheating in 2016 KCSE Results
Matiangi said that unlike previous years where the results of 5,000 candidates were cancelled because of irregularities; this year there was no single case of cheating thanks to the measures his ministry had taken. In marking centres. marks were transmitted as soon as the markers were done marking the papers.
Alliance Girls High School and Kenya High School Praised
Dr.Fred Matiang'i singled out Alliance Girls High School and Kenya High School for posting “honest and consistent” results every year.
Kenya High School managed 21 straight A's this year, compared with 20 last year, Dr Matiang’i noted.
141 candidates scored As, 4,645 candidates scored A- and 10,975 scored B+ (plus), top 20 candidates consisted of 16 girls and 4 boys.
A total of 88,929 students scored between A and C+ (plus) in the 2016 KCSE examination, Education CS Fred Matiang'i said on Thursday.
"All candidates who scored between grade A and C+ will be absorbed in universities," he said during the release of the results at Shimo la Tewa High School in Mombasa.
The CS also announced that from 2017, the president had ordered that Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) to replace index numbers with unique personal identifiers to be used at all educational level.

Withheld Results - KCSE 2016
